| A 1 year old Carter |
One year ago our lives were changed forever with the birth of Carter Aston. The emotions that accompanied the birth of Carter are as raw today as they were at 2.46pm on September 9, 2010; a reminder, if you will, of the miracle that can result from a couple's love for each other. Cue Michael Bolton's 1991 cover of 'WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN....."

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... The day started off with a nice little sleep in (until 7.50am!) and a flurry of activity to be ready for Linc's YMCA Gymnastics, during which time Carter decided to headbutt the floor, causing yet more tears and head deformation. After gymnastics we grabbed some donuts and Carter absolutely loved them - but it was no real surprise as he is a
very good eater. Then it was time for both kids to have a sleep which, for Carter, didn't last very long as he didn't want to waste his birthday by sleeping it away! Of course the resulting demeanor of the Squidge for the rest of the day was severely compromised, although a late afternoon sleep fixed that to large degree.
Gran and Chook and the kids visited to wish Carter a happy birthday and we even had candles and more donuts!

And to add to an already special day, Great Uncle Rick and Great Aunt Julie visited and shared a birthday dinner with the family! Linc took to them both very quickly, and was enjoying being the centre of attention. Squidge was his usual self, and was a bit intimidated by the new faces to start with, but handled things slightly better
after his late afternoon sleep.
