Lincoln sick

Readers may recall that in the 29 may post it was thought Lincoln was coming down with a virus. Well that turned out to be a very, very mild one with only a small cough and nothing else.

Not like tonight.

It's one of the most stressful things that Mum and Dad have experienced - and i'm sure there's worse (like croup Aunty Chook - poor little Will man!) - but this is awful. He fights for breath as his throat and nose is full of yucky stuff and he just cries. He's hardly slept at all today and wouldn't eat much tonight so was put to bed earlier. It wasn't long before he woke again and it was like he couldn't draw a breath. It was so frightning. We gave him some panadol, took his temperature, and used some nasal spray to try and clear his nose - all the while he screamed his head off - but he is now sleeping, and fingers crossed he gets plenty of sleep. Poor little fella'.

And to top off a wonderful turn of events, Dad hurt his back last thursday (lifting a big lump of Lincoln!) and is still not in great shape, Mum hurt her shoulder around the same time, and now Mum has a viral infection...

Nothing much to report...

As the title suggests, nothing much to report on the home front. Linc is now eating solids with every 'dinner time' meal. At the moment it's mashed sweet potato and potato, or mashed vegetable mix depending on what's on the menu! It makes dinner time interesting; it's such a challenge to get it in his gob and not all over him!

Dad took this photo just before Mum put him to bed this afternoon (you should've seen the evil Dad got when the shutter noise woke him! But he fell right back asleep again-phew!)

Linc tries this eating thing...

Linc's first attempt at eating was with just plain farex (and breast milk), and it was a bit of a disaster. It's worth posting the photo of Linc just after he tried the farex, which explains it all...

So we decided we'd try some farex with banana tonight. (We were going to try carrot, but Mum forgot to buy some - but she remembered to buy the jam donuts...!). Anyway, with some trepidation, Linc eventually downed quite a bit of farex/banana and seemed to enjoy it!

Dad bought Linc a (very) early Christmas present this week. A JUMPEROO! Linc loves it - there's so much for him to push, prod, spin, poke, bash etc.! Dad put him in it near the front window today. And wasn't Dad impressed when he realised Linc was watching cars drive by the front of the house (following with his head and everything!). So Dad's boy....no doubts there!

And Mum thinks he looks like a Doll in this photo. This was after Linc and Dad went for a big walk today!

Taylor Swift saves the day...

Not sure how it all came about, but when Linc is being difficult, for example not eating, or being really teary, Mum and Dad pop Taylor Swift on the TV and all problems solved! Funny to think that he's 5 1/2 months old and is already being consoled by pretty girls...

Reading to Lincoln

Lincoln is enjoying Mum and Dad reading to him at the moment. It's cool how some of the books have things for him to touch too - like bits of furry material, and bumps and coarse surfaces. He quite likes 5 little ducks at the moment...

Lincoln's first trip to Sydney - Anthony's 1st birthday party

Sydney - the big smoke! And didn't Lincoln take it all in his stride. This morning he ate breakfast at Adria Rybar and Grill, sipped iced-chocolates at the Lindt cafe at Cockle Bay Wharf and rode the carousel at Darling Harbour. This was all following a big day yesterday celebrating his good mate Anthony's first birthday! The drive to Sydney went well, up until about the M5, where he had decided enough is enough of this backseat driving - and there ain't that many places to pull over, Dad can tell you! But we persisted, and finally made it to the Crowne Plaza in Darling Harbour (welcome sir, top floor harbour view room complimentary upgrade..woo hoo!). A lightning check-in and make-up fix-up and we were off to Ryde for Anthony's party. With about 40 odd guests, it was the biggest party Linc's been to so far - and with an animal theme (for the kids) there was some wild looking mini-humans getting about...but he took it all in and looked adorable in his koala bear suit...:
He had a great time with the birthday boy...
