Coast trip and Linc loses his first tooth

In the hope of making this last school holidays a little more exciting, we booked a holiday at Murramarang for five nights. It was really good, although it rained every day except the day we arrived! Packing a car in the rain after a washed-out holiday is such a depressing activity!

Anyhow, we still had a good time, and explored the nearby rocks, built sandcastles, and the kids rode their scooters all over the park, making some new friends in the process. We did get stuck on the rocks once in a massive downpour and all got soaked through to the bone (Addi stayed relatively dry in the baby bjorn, and was just happy to be at the beach for the first time ever!), and the kids thought it was quite hilarious.

As a special treat, Gran and Pop brought Bec and Lizzy to the coast who spent the day with us.

Lincoln has also (finally) 'lost' his first tooth. Okay, I pulled it out with pliers (like my father used to do to me!)... he was very brave, and so excited that he was going to get money from the tooth-fairy. She was pretty generous with the first tooth, leaving $5 and a matchbox car!

Lincoln loving AFL

Linc has been doing AFL for a while now; he joined a team with his friends from school and is really enjoying it. It's on at 1430 each Saturday, which is a much more sensible time than when he was doing soccer last season.

Today he scored a goal, so was super excited about that. Just have to work on his kicking a bit; poor effort on that one, Dad... He also had to deal with the player he was trying to mark getting really upset about it (third photo below) - he obviously needs to understand what the game is all about!

Unfortunately neither Linc nor Carter are enjoying Martial Arts, so what an absolute waste of money that was.

Transition to cot complete...!

Two nights in a row of an un-interrupted eight hour sleep. Life's good again!

Except winter sux. It really does.

Okay, so having three kids isn't that easy...

For the past four months, Addi has been sleeping in her rocker; she just didn't really take to the cot so, in the interests of our own sleep, we just accepted it. But she is now getting so big (and active) that we have had to commence the transition to cot. Whoah, what an absolute disaster. Thankfully we chose a long weekend to make the change, as we didn't get to sleep until 4am on Sunday morning... the sound of her resisting sleep, every single hour, on the hour, all night was excruciating - like a banshee... I'm not exaggerating.

So we spent Sunday at home, all day, feeling sorry for ourselves and dreading the coming night. It was so hard not to snap at the boys who were a bit bored (we spent all last weekend at home given the huge amount of rain we had), and so they fought and argued and copped a fair bit of negative feedback (constructive criticism?) from a cranky Mummy and Daddy - neither of us had the energy to put up with any nonsense! Addi also wasn't herself, which is understandable given she was so tired...but would you believe it, she slept pretty well in her cot during the day - so this made us hopeful.

Unfortunately last night still wasn't great, although granted it was better than the night before. But as the lack of sleep compounds, so does the effect on our resilience. We've all been in tears, and it doesn't help that Mum's family is away, as I'm sure they could have had the boys for a couple of hours to give us a much needed respite.

So today we headed to the mall so the kids could undergo some retail therapy; they spent some of their pocket money on Mixels and a model Ferrari. I'll let you guess who bought what... Then it was back to Forza with Linc (he absolutely loves it), but at least it's free...

The grass got mowed, the SV6 got washed and that marked the end of a pretty average Queen's birthday long weekend. As I write, I am terrified of what tonight will bring...we all just need a decent night's sleep. But hey, we chose this, right?!

Lastly, a huge well done to Mum for managing so well with everything (including two martial arts sessions) while Dad was interstate for work! Good job darling!

Addi's four-month checkup

Addi passed her four-month checkup with flying colours.

She has easily hit all of the required milestones including doubling her birth weight. She now weighs 5.53 kg (15th percentile) and has gone through a growth spurt, going from the 15th percentile (55 cm) at two months to the 75th percentile (63.5 cm). Her head circumference (41 cm) continues to hover around the 50th percentile.
