Carter now sitting up

The boys, sitting together and watching TV! Carter only just started sitting on his own over the last couple of weeks, but he's now a lot better - although he still does fall fairly often - most likely due to his gigantic, oversized head.

Carter's 6 month check-up

Happy healthy, and on track for having a massive head...which apparently we have to 'keep an eye on'...

Length - 70cm (75th %)
Weight - 8100g (just over the 50th %) (Linc was 7615g)
Head circumference - 46.5cm (97th %).

I personally think his head is very
much in proportion to his body: you be the judge...

PS - Linc is now 93.5cm tall which puts him just over the 90th %.

Update + the sleeping part III

Sleep. One of those things in life that, along with air, food, water and laughter, is pretty essential to getting through each day....

Linc is enjoying the new-found freedom of being in a bed he can get out of - most nights he gets out a half dozen times or more before he eventually falls asleep (one night last week it took 2 hours for him to stay in bed - and he even got yelled at).  And then he'll come in for a night-time visit to Mum and Dad at 4am...we then put him back in bed only for him to wake anywhere between 6am and 7am... Bring back the cot, I say... But he's turning into a beautiful little boy, with good manners, and a real active, go go go personality. His talking is improving every day and he can now count from 1 to 10 and point out the numbers which we think is VERY impressive! He also knows when we're having a joke with him - for example, when we show him a picture of himself and say "hey, look it's Carter" he shakes his head and laughs saying "noooo - Linc"...

Carter's sleep performance is...inconsistent...is a good description. He had an 8 hour sleep while Dad was away last week (all week... )-: ) but is only managing 5 hours lately and still takes a couple of attempts to fall asleep when he is put down at night. Apart from that he has really started to pile on the weight and is looking very healthy. He's due for his 6 month checkup tomorrow so that will be interesting!

The sleeping...part II

Day 3 into Linc's transition to the bed...time for an update...

His first lunchtime sleep didn't go as well as his first night sleep. Dad put him to bed, and he got out. Dad put him to bed and he got out.  Dad put him to bed and, you guessed it, he got out again. After persevering for quite some time, Dad eventually put him in his cot - where he fell asleep almost immediately. Then Dad scooped him up and put him in his bed where he slept for almost 2 hours (average for a day-time sleep).

Day 2 night-time sleep saw Linc get up once - and then he slept all night long, only getting up at 6.15am when he heard his brother screaming for breakfast (which is why he woke the first morning by the way!).  Day 3's lunchtime sleep was flawless - into bed and slept for 2 hours.

As a result of this successful transition, the cot has now moved back into Carter's room, where Carter had his first sleep in his new cot. Unfortunately he woke a couple of times - but after 4 straight nights of 8 hour blocks of sleep, we weren't complaining (especially considering the awful run we have had over the last few weeks with Carter waking up multiple times during the night)!... So both of the kids are in their own rooms, in their own respective bed/cot...

For the first time ever, Linc slept in his bed last night...all night...well, up until 6.30am when he decided it was time to say good morning to Mum and Dad!

We had decided earlier in the week that we would try Linc out in his bed this friday night, as we were fully expecting to have to go and sit with him until he went to sleep. But when it came to bed time, Dad asked Linc if he wanted to sleep in his bed or in his cot - Linc said 'bed', so in he went.  And he never once got out of bed...although we did go in to his room a couple of times as we couldn't believe that it could be as easy as that - we were sure he had snuck out of bed and was playing with his toys... Well done Linc, we are so proud of you.
