Linc's first day at Pre-School

Once upon a time (about four years ago), I used to be able to fit this kid in the cradle of one arm.

Now he's at Pre-School. Mum was a bit emotional, but that is to be expected; Linc had a ball and didn't want to come home. Today was only 2.5 hours, tomorrow is 8.45 to 14.45; we'll see if he still wants to stay at Pre-School after a full day there!

As you probably noticed from the last post (photo) Linc is already quite big for the bug bike; and, since he's done so well pedaling on the bug bike we decided to get him a new bike today. He wanted to leave the stabilisers on at first, but he seemed to struggle with them as he was used to balancing on the bug bike - so off they came, and away he went, pedaling like a champ up and down the street. He can even take off on his own as he gets a bit of speed up before putting his feet on the pedals.

The bug bikes have been a huge hit with both of the kids; especially at the coast where they just about wore them out. But it was obvious that Linc was ready for the next step: pedals!

So today Dad fitted the pedal box to the bug bike and he just took off, pedaling like a champ! So proud of him.

Would you believe he starts pre-school NEXT WEEK!

Happy FOURTH birthday to our little man. We had a lovely day with lots of cousins and Auntys and even Gran dropping by for some cake. It goes without saying that there were heaps of pressies, with Linc loving his red Camaro that opens it's bonnet and boot and flashes lights in time to music, and being mesmerised by the big light-up world globe with the animals of the world on it. The massive BBQ from Gran and Pop was also a huge hit as was the Bosch service car park.

Carter didn't miss out though; he got a Cartersaurus t-shirt, a puzzle and a new DVD (Princess and the Frog)...

Despite ex-tropical cyclone Oswald doing its best to drown us all, we have just returned from a very relaxing(!) five nights at Kiama. The weather was a mixed bag, with one hot, muggy day, a milder, yet still warm day, and a few days of rain, rain, rain. Unfortunately the beach was closed for three of the five days we were there, with absolutely massive waves making it unswimmable - even for the big people!

Happy new year! Taronga Zoo

A very quiet new years eve was had with us only just making midnight. Although there were a few people in the street that were having no trouble staying awake!

We took the kids to see the 9pm fireworks in Civic, but it was a bit of a disaster. They were so excited... until the fireworks actually started. I want to go home...let's go home etc. It was a bit funny, but they both didn't like the loud noises; and they were actually VERY loud.

This weekend we went to Sydney to Taronga Zoo (along with 1.7 million other people). They have a dinosaur exhibition on at the moment and the kids (especially Carter) loves dinosuars. It was actually really good, but the kids both had a fall at the Zoo, and both were a bit grumpy from being tired. We might try again in a couple of years to see if it's any better... The bird show was fantastic, and amazing to see how intelligent the birds really are.

Merry Christmas!

A lovely Christmas day yesterday, with the main lunch being hosted under the new pergola at our house, with a roast lamb and roast beef cooked in our new Weber Family Q320! The weather was a bit cooler for the big day, with the days prior being very hot and stormy.

The kids got a tramp (Nan and Grandad), animals, cars and books (Gran and Pop) and some JD Bug balance bikes (Mum and Dad) as well as a plethora of other exciting toys (too many to mention!) so thanks to everyone for the wonderful gifts.

Linc nappy-free

After a number of consecutive nights with a dry nappy, last Sunday we decided to try putting Linc to bed with just underpants; so far he has only had one accident, which is very impressive. He is so proud of himself, as are we. So he's now officially nappy-free!
