12.1 kg 1 July

Linc is now a hefty 12.1 kilos and has moved up the percentage scale for a 17mth old boy. He's also 86 cm tall and is just under the 97th percentile for height. He's unfortunately picked up a throat infection and so is back on antibiotics. Again. But we're getting used to him getting sick - kids get sick all the time apparently!

Mum has been taking Linc to MiniQ (at Questacon) each week which he goes berserk over (see above photo). That's where he has learnt to sit on the cars (like he now rides on his lion - as per pic at top). Also in the top pic is the new Inglesina Mhome Zuma highchair which is so much like a Recaro race seat!

He's now so aware of what is going on around him - he knows if Dad is going to work and waves goodbye. He knows someone has come home when he hears the garage door - and he runs to the door and starts knocking on it. As soon as you say it's bath time he goes running for the bath. He does a cute little elephant noise and raised arm whenever he sees an elephant, and does dog noises when he hears the dogs next door or sees dogs on the TV.

His feature wall is now painted (5 coats later - don't ask) with his bed arriving tomorrow (edit: photo added post bed arrival)! We are planning on a trip to Ikea in the near future to pick up a matching shelving unit. Might take the F250 and see what else is there to fill up the back of the truck, hey Dad!...

Oh, and we also paid the obstetrician to deliver 2.0. $3800, with a $463 refund from Medicare. Thanks Australian Government - we get penalised because we are forced to see a specialist obstetrician. Something not right there.

Painting commences...

With three colours remaining in the race to adorn Linc's new bedroom feature wall, it was time to whack them on the wall (you can see the three shades behind the final choice). Dulux Silk Blue Oar won the day with the second coat going up today. Linc was very excited about the whole thing (or high on the paint fumes - can't really tell!)..

General update

What? I wasn't ringing international, I promise!

Mesmerised by one of his favourite television shows (Chuggington/Roary/Bob the builder/Thomas the tank engine).

Nothing outstanding to report - life goes on as usual with Linc filling our lives with much fun, enjoyment and the odd challenge! He's at one sleep a day of about 1.5 hrs and still has a great sleep at night - from about 2000hrs to 0730hrs, which is a great for Mum and Dad!

Linc is still going to Kindermusik each week and has also just signed up for Mini Q at Questacon. He had a great time at the trial visit so we've joined him up for a year.

His character is starting to show more and more each day - it's amazing how kids, even at this age, are so different. For instance, at Kindermusik they put the kids in a washing basket and pull them around on the floor with a blanket. Now being Dad's son, you would think he would love it. Nup. He hates it. Screams and acts like we've just chopped his arm off! He loves having a fright though - like when Dad hums really low then all of a sudden yips like a little dog - Linc jumps a mile and laughs his head off.

He hates holding hands in public (already!), and has no fear about cars and other people, and no idea that those big supermarket trolleys would flatten him with ease! When he's out shopping with us, if he sees another pram he'll run over to try and help to push the pram... We took him to the lighting shop today to get him a night light - he thought it would be hilarious to run away from Dad straight over to a ceramic light fitting and bash it with his hands...I have no idea how it didn't break. (Yeah, yeah, nice parenting I hear you say - but he's so quick when he gets a run on!).

He loves reading. Not that he lasts all that long, and tends to turn the page before you've finished reading it, but he'll grab a book and run over to you saying 'pah, pah pah' (whatever that means). Then you sit down on the floor and he'll just fall back onto your lap so you can read to him - it's so cute! He's also good at giving kisses - but he's very selective these days - so it's a treat to get one from him! He also continues to love his baths, but he now HATES laying down. Not sure why, but he is terrified of it for some reason.

Mum is now 26 weeks pregnant - she is now looking very pregnant, and exceedingly beautiful - she certainly suits being pregnant with her tall frame and stunning good looks. Boy are we in for some fun times when 2.0 comes along... it's already started with having to move all three rooms around - the study is now in the guest's room (the guest's room no longer exists), Lincoln's room will now be in the old study (once it's painted and his bed arrives!), and 2.0 will have the nursery!

With the pending arrival of 2.0, poor Linc is likely to get turfed out of his cot to make way for his little brother. So, rather than have Linc sleep on the floor, it was decided to buy Linc his very own bed - see attached pic from the brochure (we're hoping the annoying looking Mexican kid playing the guitar doesn't come with it).

Along with a new bed comes a move from the nursery into a more grown-up room, which will (eventually) have a nice freshly painted blue wall, and a car theme throughout (yep, Dad is very upset about that!)...

Even though the EOS400D is having issues, it still produces a nice photo every now and then. And then there's Lincoln's new face - he throws his hands up and down in the air blowing in and out - it's absolutely hilarious to watch...:

Lincoln at 16 months

Lincoln continues to be the most wonderful son a parent could wish for. He's growing so fast, and learning new things every day. He now knows how to hide things and hold out his hands as if to say "where's it gone" then he'll pull out the toy and laugh and laugh.

He's still sleeping for almost 12 hours a night - with a single 2 hour (or 1.5 hr) sleep in the middle of the day.

Mum is doing well - 2.0 now kicks her fairly hard, and quite often! We're quoting Sept 18 as the due date, but know that this little one is probably going to be a fair bit bigger than Linc... Our first obstetrician appointment was on Monday, and it's where we found out that we will have to pay $3,800 to have this baby, and will only get $200 back (we got 80% back with Linc). Thanks to the good 'ol government for that one... I get why they did it, but there has to be a better way...

Linc was involved in his very first car accident a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was OK, with Mum being much more freaked out than Linc, who really didn't know that anything had happened. We're all thankful that Mum was able to avoid a more serious accident when this stupid old dim-witted man (who shouldn't have been driving a car in the first place) failed to give way on a round-about. Everyone always goes on about young male drivers being the ones to watch out for...people should be more worried about how many accidents are caused by elderly people who just don't have the capacity to drive a motor vehicle anymore.

20 week ultrasound - boy or girl?

We are ecstatic to report that 2.0 has all the right bits, in all the right places, and is even further along than first thought! According to the 20 week ultrasound, 2.0 is 21 weeks and 5 days!
